It inherits a strong reasoning foundation but uses a hybrid approach to combine the strengths of alternatives while mitigating their drawbacks. Our model defaults to direct inference for perception-focused domains where reasoning adds latency without improving accuracy, avoiding unnecessary verbosity and reducing inference costs, and it invokes longer reasoning paths for domains, such as math and science, that benefit from structured multi-step reasoning (opens in new tab).
